Charity Shops
Review and Bargain Box are Gordon Rural Action’s Charity Shops in Inverurie and Huntly.
The shops help us fund our advice centres in Ellon, Huntly and Inverurie.
Purchases from and donations to our shops, help us to provide advice to people with, benefits, debt, employment, housing and other issues. We really do appreciate the generosity of our donors and customers who visit our shops.
Not only are you supporting our projects you are helping the environment - re-use is even better than recycling.
- By donating or buying items in our shops you are helping a good cause and the environment – re-use is even better than recycling.
- 10 million items of furniture are thrown away in the UK every year. 3 million of these items could be re-used. We have re-used at least 70 tonnes of furniture, bric-a-brac and books over the past year.
- Re-using an item of furniture saves the energy associated with manufacturing a new one, which has an enormous and positive impact on reducing CO2 emissions.
- Over 250,000 tonnes of textiles are sent on for re-use and recycling by charity shops every year. We recycled or re-sold in excess of 10 tonnes of textiles during the past year.
- UK charity shops re-use activity alone helps reduce CO2 emissions by about 2.5 million tonnes per annum.
We sell:
- Books
- Furniture
- Bric-a-brac
- Clothes and accessories
We have a van that picks up and delivers furniture.
We do house clearances.
Our shops are run entirely by volunteers, their help is invaluable. The shops are always in need of new volunteers so if you have some time to spare and are interested in volunteering contact the shops, drop in or go to the volunteering page on this website and fill in a volunteer application form and return it to Lorna Cameron at Huntly Business centre, Gordon street, Huntly, Aberdeenshire, AB54 8DH.
